She has Mexican heritage.

"My dad's family is originally from Mexico, but now three generations born in Texas. My mom is a mix of German and Native American. The Latin culture played a much larger role in our lives growing up, especially growing up in Houston. Anytime the family is together, even just my immediate family, there will be homemade Mexican food. Usually, we leave most of the cooking up to my dad, but I help make the tortillas from scratch, guacamole, and salsa."

She's proud to identify as a Latina.

"I think everyone should embrace their heritage and where they come from. It's an important part of you. Women in the industry have already come a long way. Latinas are continuing to make a name for themselves by showing the world they are capable of doing anything they put their minds to."

Her favorite Latin dish is tamales.

"I love any Latin food, but one of my favorites is tamales. When someone in the family makes them, they will also make candy ones for dessert, which are so good!"

She's acting now, but music is her real passion.

"Music has always played a huge role in my life. My dad introduced me to artists like Stevie Wonder, Queen, and more classics, when I was younger. My dad plays the saxophone, but neither of my parents really sing. My sister and I would always sing and perform for anyone willing to listen, and even though it was something I enjoyed, it wasn't until I reached high school that it became what I wanted to pursue 100 percent."

Her dad encouraged her to post covers on YouTube.

"My dad was the one who told me about people posting covers on YouTube and encouraged me to give it a try — go dad! It wasn't anything overnight, but it built over months until one video really took off. It's honestly still surreal to me. It's all thanks to the ones who discovered me, shared my videos, and continue to support me today."

She loves mashups.

She loves mashups.

"I really enjoyed creating some of my more recent covers that were mashups. I did a love song mashup and a tribute to Selena Quintanilla, where I combined a few of her songs. Medleys are fun, because you get to combine multiple songs you love and have the challenge of making everything flow as one song."

She loves Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez — like all of us.

"Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez are two women in the industry I admire. They both have shown that, with hard work and passion, you can accomplish anything. What I love about both of them, too, is they aren't contained to one realm. They aren't just singers, but also musicians, actors, songwriters, fashion icons. I would love to have a career as well rounded as each of them."

She's working on more original music.

"It's writing and more writing for me. I am getting ready to work on new music, and I am very excited to see how it evolves. I never want to put myself in a box when creating, which is part of the fun, because you never know what you might fall in love with and what could change the direction of the next album."
